The Ultimate Grilled Cheeze

Fresh tomatoes and basil pair up to show off our Daiya Mozzarella Style Slices, brightening up a classic grilled cheese for that any-day-of-the-week craving.


  • 1 tbsp plant-based butter
  • 2 slices artisan, gluten-free sourdough bread
  • 4 Daiya Mozzarella Style Slices
  • 1/4 cup baby spinach leaves
  • 1 heirloom tomato, sliced into 1/4-inch thick rounds
  • 4 large basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper for seasoning


Heat a skillet over medium heat. Dry toast bread in skillet over medium heat, two minutes each side. Spread butter onto one side of each piece of bread.

Place one slice of bread, butter side down onto warm pan over medium low heat. Place two cheeze slices onto bread and top with spinach, basil leaves and two tomato slices. Season tomato with salt and pepper and place the remaining two cheeze slices on top, followed by the second bread slice, butter side up.

Toast sandwich on low heat until bread is golden brown on both sides and cheeze is melted, 8-10 minutes. Place a lid over pan in the last 5 minutes to help melted cheeze further. Serve warm with a side salad and your favorite dipping sauce.
